Just days before the start of the IV South American Youth Games Panama 2026, the Aruban delegation is finalizing preparations following its farewell gathering, marking the beginning of an international dream for its young athletes.
The Aruban Olympic Committee (COA) brought together athletes, coaches, federations, and families in an emotional event that served not only as a send-off, but also as recognition of the effort of those who will represent the island in this major continental competition.
The delegation will be made up of 13 athletes and a total of 27 members, who will compete in six disciplines: swimming, triathlon, athletics, taekwondo, artistic gymnastics, and, for the first time, chess. Under the leadership of chef de mission Jonathan Wever and the COA technical staff, Aruba will aim to stand out in every sporting arena.
Among the athletes to watch is young triathlete Jeon Fernandes, just 15 years old, who will make his debut at this level of competition in the demanding sprint event (750m swim, 20km bike, and 5km run). His participation symbolizes the growth and projection of youth sports on the island.
With a young, ambitious, and hopeful delegation, Aruba is preparing to experience, in many cases, its first major international event, with its sights set on the future. Team Aruba arrives in Panama 2026 with the clear objective of leaving its mark and proving it is ready to compete and shine AT ANOTHER LEVEL.
