Competition Format & Rules
The competition will follow World Boxing (IF) regulations, aligning with modern international standards that prioritize safety and sportsmanship. The format is similar to the Olympic style:
- Bout Duration: Generally 3 rounds of 3 minutes for elite men and women, with a one-minute rest period between rounds.
- Scoring System: The “10-point must” system is used. Judges score each round, awarding 10 points to the winner and fewer to the loser (9-10, 8-10, etc.) based on punches landed, dominance, and technique.
- Decisions: Victory can be achieved by points (unanimous or divided decision), Knockout (KO), Technical Knockout (TKO), disqualification, or retirement.
- Safety: Strict use of protective equipment (mouthguards, groin protectors). Headguards are mandatory for youth/junior categories but not for elite levels.
- Technical Rules: Low blows, punches to the back of the head, hitting with an open glove, headbutts, and pushing are prohibited. The referee has the authority to deduct points or disqualify for serious fouls.
- Judging: A panel of 5 judges determines the winner.
