After Paraguay’s victory over Panama in football (grass pitch) at the IV South American Youth Games Panama 2026, the Paraguayan delegation held a press conference where head coach Wilfrido Bazán and top scorer Osmar Sosa shared their impressions.
Coach Bazán valued the win, but also highlighted the difficulty of the match:
“Today we managed to win and we are happy, but it was not an easy match. Panama was a tough team, and they deserve credit for what they are doing.” He also emphasized the importance of the development process over the result: “We have to teach the kids to compete; results come later. There is always room for improvement if you want to be a champion”
For his part, Osmar Sosa highlighted the team’s preparation and the group’s commitment: “We’ve been preparing well, grateful to the coach for the opportunity. We were able to get the win and now we have to think about Argentina.” The top scorer also stressed the team’s mentality and dedicated his goals: “We always go into every match to give it our all. The goals are for God, my family, and my girlfriend, who always supports me.”
With these statements, Paraguay reflects on a tough challenge against Panama and now turns its attention to its next match against Argentina.
