JSJ Panama 2026

On the morning of April 2, the Pan American U-17 Olympic Wrestling Championship was held in Panama, featuring youth athletes from 20 countries.

The Luis “Matador” Tejada High Performance Center served as the venue that brought together athletes from across the continent, who—after months of preparation—stepped onto the mats and demonstrated determination in each bout, competing through the qualifiers, round of 16, and semifinals.

Participating countries included Argentina, Canada, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru, the United States, Venezuela, and the host nation, Panama.

The excitement in the stands and throughout the matches was on another level, with continuous action in the 51 kg, 65 kg, 71 kg, and 55 kg categories, where the qualification rounds, round of 16, quarterfinals, and semifinals took place.

The finals will take place in the afternoon, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., featuring 40 freestyle category finals as part of the road to the 2029 Pan American Games.

The competition showcased the talent and competitiveness of athletes from across the Americas in this discipline, which will also be featured at the IV South American Youth Games, scheduled to take place from April 12 to 25 in Panama.
