On the afternoon of this Tuesday, April 7, Antón arrived at the epicenter of the South American Youth Games Panama 2026, Juan Díaz, the district where 70% of the sporting disciplines will take place.
The community, students, and children from the area gathered at Heliodoro Patiño Park, where they were introduced to the identity of the games, the disciplines, the message of sustainability, and the legacy that this historic sporting event will leave in Panama.
These were the statements by David Bernal, representative of Juan Díaz: “For me, this is a historic moment. It is the opportunity for us to be inspired and to see how our facilities come to life on an international level. It is something we must keep in our memory, and that is why I would like us to feel as if it were an integral part of the identity of our district”.
Bernal highlighted that four disciplines are maintained permanently in the district, including soccer, baseball, futsal, athletics, and soon they will also have volleyball, because they believe in sport as a tool for social change.
It is worth noting that the medals to be worn by the athletes have a butterfly shape, representing Panama’s biodiversity, and the award gift for the athletes will be a Golden Frog, symbolizing conservation, protection, and the fight against the extinction of this amphibian species native to the mountains of El Valle de Antón, in the province of Coclé.
Eusebia Muñoz Pinzón, a resident of Juan Díaz from Ciudad Radial, who turns 94 tomorrow, shared this message for the young people who will take part in this celebration of sport: “This is for the youth, to follow the good things, to leave behind the bad, and to continue doing what is right.” She emphasized the importance of the games in promoting education and sustainability”.
