JSJ Panama 2026

On the morning of April 20, after Colombia’s decisive 11-5 victory over Brazil in the South American Games, pitching coach Sugar Ray Marimón highlighted that the team arrived at the tournament backed by a solid preparation process.

Ray explained that, although the pre competition training camp lasted between one month and a month and a half, the players already came in having done individual work in advance. This allowed the team to focus on specific adjustments once they came together as a national squad. For Marimón, today’s win reflects that foundation: a synchronized group where the pitching staff played a key role in holding the game together during difficult moments and allowing the offense to do its job.

Looking ahead, the strategist was clear: the focus will be “game by game,” maintaining motivation and the connection between pitching and hitting as the formula to advance to the final stages.

He also emphasized the importance of mental and emotional training, insisting that players must compete pitch by pitch, trusting their preparation and the process they have gone through. His message to the next generations is direct: to constantly prepare so that opportunities arrive, and not to get ahead of results, because true performance is built through focus, discipline, and confidence.
