JSJ Panama 2026

Originally from Río Hato, in the province of Coclé, she is Katielis Villamil, a track and field athlete who will be present at the IV South American Youth Games Panama 2026.

The athlete from Coclé spoke about the journey to qualify for these games: “The pre-selection was very difficult, because there are only 10 spots nationwide. Thank God I made it, and I feel very proud to represent my province and Panama in these IV South American Games.”

On the other hand, she told us about her preparation prior to this competition, where she will face foreign rivals, and about the mental aspect as an athlete: “The preparation has been very intense because the opponents coming are not easy. Psychologically, it has been about trying to believe in myself, since I’ve already reached the point where I am, and continuing to grow”.

Additionally, Villamil, 16 years old, expressed her excitement and happiness at being chosen to carry the torch to El Valle de Antón, home of the Golden Frog, and to the city of Penonomé, as this is her first participation in this competition at the national level.
