Boxing kicked off with intensity on the opening day of competition at the Tierra de Campeones Atheyna Bylon Combat Center.
In the 57kg women’s division, Brazil’s Sara Dos Santos delivered a dominant 5-0 victory over Panama’s Scharmaine Batista. In the 60kg women’s division, Bolivia’s Giuliana Velásquez secured a clear 5-0 win against Ecuador’s Naomi Pionce.
In the men’s competition, Ecuador’s Jeremías Borja dominated Uruguay’s Thiago Gutiérrez 5-0 in the 55kg (round of 16). In the 65kg division, Uruguay’s Franco Ledesma defeated Chile’s Nicolás Concha 4-1, while Colombia’s Stiven Galvis advanced after a W victory over Panama’s Héctor Gordon. Venezuela’s Gabriel Marcano also impressed with a 5-0 win against Bolivia’s Mateo Carrasco.
In the 70kg division, Colombia’s Luis Yatt advanced by W over Paraguay’s Ian Berthomier, and Argentina’s Santiago Giménez secured a strong 5-0 victory against Venezuela’s Aarón García. Finally, in the 90kg division, Brazil’s Jean Carlos Do Nascimento closed the day with a commanding 5-0 win over Bolivia’s Jeison Torres.
The opening day featured dominant performances and saw several favorites take a strong step toward the semifinals.
