The Paraguayan women’s national team defeated Colombia 3-0, securing their first win in the tournament and staying alive in their pursuit of the gold medal.

The head coach, Gustavo Roma, expressed enthusiasm about the result, highlighting the personality shown by his players in this match: “We changed our attitude, the girls have a lot of personality, and if we show this personality in every game we will have the opportunity to win the gold medal,” said the Brazilian.

The ‘Guaraní’ defender Camila Martínez expressed her desire to continue on the winning path: “We set our minds on winning, Paraguay is capable of great things, to win that medal we want so much.”

Meanwhile, the Colombian team’s coach Alejandro Camacho acknowledged that the team needs to improve: “Everyone here prepared to win, the result we came for was not this one. There are things to correct, but we know that’s how the game is—sometimes things go well, and other times not so well”

The goalkeeper, Gabriela Delgadillo, reflected on the defeat: “Things didn’t go our way again, we knew we could do better, but because of football things happened that way.” Delgadillo also analyzed areas for improvement ahead of the next match against Venezuela: “We need to improve in technique and ball possession. The match is very long and we must not let ourselves fall,” she emphasized

Colombia will face Venezuela on April 16 at 9:00 a.m. Meanwhile, Paraguay will take on the host nation, Panama, at 3:00 p.m. (local time). Both matches will be played at the football field of the Luis “Matador” Tejada High Performance Center.
