Behind every athlete there is a dream, and along the way there are challenges, but at the end of the day everything is worth it. These are the stories of many athletes, one of them is Luciano Joaquín Carrizo Olivares, a Chilean pride, who with a time of 34:20.63 and an average of 47.2 won the gold medal in Road Cycling in the individual time trial final in the men’s category at the IV South American Youth Games Panama 2026.
With great enthusiasm and satisfaction for all the sacrifice made throughout preparation, victories and defeats, and every competition, the cyclist expressed the following:
“First of all, I want to thank God, my family, my sponsors, and my coach because without them this medal would not have been possible. And yes, it feels very satisfying. I had already finished second twice in the Pan American Games in Colombia and I wanted revenge, I wanted the gold medal, so this time I prepared much more for the time trial.”
The silver medal was taken by Bruno Octavio Da Silva of Brazil, and José Manuel Franco Posada of Colombia took the gold medal.
In road cycling, 17 athletes participated from Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina, Ecuador, Panama, Uruguay, and Bolivia
