
The Paraguay Women’s National Team reacted in time and defeated Panama 3–2 in an exciting match of women’s football at the IV South American Youth Games – Panama 2026, moving firmly into the fight for medals.
The Panamanian team started better and struck first with a stunning goal from Vera Batista, sparking hope among the home fans. However, the Paraguayan response was not long in coming and had a clear standout: Natalia Miranda. The forward delivered a brilliant performance with a hat trick that turned the score around and put Paraguay in control of the match.
Panama did not give up and pushed until the end. In the decisive minutes, Kelly Zapata pulled one back for the home side, adding suspense to the closing stages, but it was not enough to avoid defeat. The final score of 3-2 left Paraguay in a better position and the “Canaleras” needing a response on the last matchday.
With this result, Paraguay heads into its next match against Colombia with a different outlook, while Panama will play for its chances against Venezuela, which has already secured a medal after its victory in the previous round.
