This is what the 3×3 Basketball court looks like, which will begin this Thursday, April 23, at the IV South American Youth Games Panama 2026.
A competition in which 11 men’s teams will participate from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela. In the women’s category, 10 teams will compete from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Curaçao, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
Now, let’s go back to the beginning of this engineering project, which was a real challenge due to an uneven surface that had to be adapted for 3×3 basketball.
The venue was built with materials that properly adapt to the platform in order to ensure the ideal bounce of the ball, with reinforcement in the central area to optimize dribbling performance.
Paying attention to every detail, the staff worked day and night. The platform leveling was heavily reinforced for the game, meeting sports regulations and adapting the roof structure, explained Abdiel Morales, engineer of the 3×3 Basketball venue.
The seating capacity is 1,095 people, and a Layher type grandstand system is being used, which is approved at the European level and offers the highest safety standards for both spectators and athletes.
Finally, the venue is ready to welcome and provide comfort and safety to all attendees in this competition, which promises to be at another level.
