
With an emotional ceremony full of symbolism, music, and celebration, Panama brought the curtain down on the IV South American Youth Games Panama 2026 this Saturday, April 25, at the Roberto Durán Arena, closing a historic chapter for youth sports in the region.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of the Presidency, Carlos Orillac; Minister of Education, Lucy Molinar; Director General of Pandeportes, Miguel Ordoñez; ODESUR Vice President, Mario Moccia; President of the Panama Olympic Committee and IOC member, Damaris Young; and the Director General of Panama 2026, Anamae Orillac, along with authorities, athletes, volunteers, and special guests.

The event began with the raising of the national flag and the performance of Panama’s National Anthem, marking a solemn moment that gave way to the entrance of the flag bearers from the 15 participating delegations. They paraded through the main entrance, escorted by a guard of honor formed by Games volunteers.
Athletes then entered the central area of the Arena in an atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie that reflected the spirit lived throughout the 14 days of competition. A highlight video followed, showcasing the most memorable moments of Panama 2026 and drawing applause and emotion from those in attendance.
One of the most meaningful moments of the night was the recognition of three volunteers representing the more than 1,800 who contributed to the success of the Games. Awards were presented by the Director General of Pandeportes, Miguel Ordoñez, and the President of the Panama Olympic Committee, Damaris Young.

The protocol continued with remarks from the Director General of the Games, Anamae Orillac, who highlighted the collective effort behind the organization and the legacy that Panama 2026 leaves for future generations. During her speech, she extended special thanks to the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, for his support in making this historic event possible.

Next, ODESUR Vice President Mario Moccia thanked the country for hosting memorable Games, praised the commitment and talent of the athletes, and officially declared the IV South American Youth Games closed with a forward-looking message.
As a symbol of the closing of this major multi-sport celebration, the ODESUR and International Olympic Committee flags were lowered, followed by the extinguishing of the South American flame, marking the end of an experience that will remain in the memory of the entire region.

The celebration continued with a festive atmosphere that filled the Roberto Durán Arena with music and energy. The audience and athletes enjoyed a performance by Los Rabanes, followed by a dynamic show by DJ Flecha and Real Phantom, putting the finishing touch on an unforgettable night.
Panama 2026 thus concludes a multi-sport celebration that brought together thousands of athletes from 15 countries, placing the nation at the center of the regional sports stage. Games organized at another level, showcasing Panama’s ability to host events of this magnitude, while leaving a strong legacy and paving the way for a new generation of South American athletes.
